Please check the images with your stator plate with your stator as they fitted 2 different types to the GTS250 this is to fit the earlier model.
The effects of the environment, age and constant heavy use can all lead to the stator plate assembly becoming defective and failing. Before you are exposed to the effects of a faulty ignition system you are well advised to replace your stator plate with a new one.
